Controlled Burn Spreads on McGregor Property

A homeowner lost control of a controlled burn on his property in Dripping Springs this afternoon, bringing local fire officials and a brush truck to his residence.

A property owner started a controlled burn on his property this afternoon off McGregor Lane in Dripping Springs. Then, thinking the fire had not caught, he returned to his house. His neighbor called to tell him that the fire, which he thought was out, was actually raging out of control.

The homeowner, his family and the neighborhood attempted to contain the fire. By the time fire personnel arrived, the fire was mostly contained. This fire was small and contained to about 4,000 square feet. Counties around Central Texas have been receiving similar calls this weekend, as homeowners try to burn brush now that burn bans have been lifted.
